Jason Walker is a Registered Psychologist and Clinical Registrar with a passion for helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and build lasting resilience. Drawing on over 18 years of diverse professional experience, including 14 years in the Australian Army and four years working in private security in Kabul, Afghanistan, he brings a unique perspective to his practice, particularly when supporting veterans, emergency services personnel, and their families.
With expertise in evidence-based psychological interventions, Jason manages a broad caseload that spans across children, adolescents, and adults, offering both individual therapy and assessments tailored to each client’s needs. He is passionate about providing compassionate, client-centred therapy that empowers individuals to overcome obstacles, develop resilience, and lead fulfilling lives. Jason values working together with clients, their families, and other professionals to ensure holistic, positive outcomes.
As an ex-serviceman, Jason is deeply committed to the well-being of those who serve, having developed extensive experience working with veterans and their families to facilitate healing and resilience. His clinical work includes supporting veterans and first responders in overcoming trauma, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, chronic pain, anger challenges, relationship difficulties, managing stress and other mental health challenges.
Another significant area of his clinical practice is children and adolescent development, with a particular focus on young males, autism, and ADHD. Jason works closely with young people and their families to address social, emotional, behavioural and communication difficulties. His collaborative, strengths-based approach aims for successful treatment outcomes through tailored strategies and best practice. Jason believes every young person can thrive when given the right support.
With his life experience as a neurodiverse person, a parent, and extensive cross-cultural exposure, including time spent living abroad, Jason brings an understanding, empathetic, and compassionate approach to his work. He is approachable, open, and flexible, making it easy to build trust and rapport with children, adolescents, and adults alike.
